Willy Paints

William Cannon
I got into the miniature painting hobby a bit later in life, driven by a lifelong love for The Lord of the Rings. For a long time, a close friend was always pushing me to pick up a brush and give it a try. Once I finally did, I was completely hooked, and that spark quickly grew from a casual hobby into a real passion.
Naturally, Middle-earth remains my absolute favorite universe to paint. There is something incredibly special about working on the older pewter models; they carry a sense of nostalgia, weight, and classic fantasy charm that is hard to match. While The Lord of the Rings holds the top spot in my heart, I also love the variety of jumping into other worlds, frequently spending time painting miniatures from Warhammer 40k, Star Wars, and Age of Sigmar.
My philosophy as an artist is simple: painting is entirely about having fun. It doesn’t matter if I am working on a quick army to get onto the tabletop for a game, or if I am spending dozens of hours preparing a piece for a competition. Whether I am taking it easy or pushing myself to the absolute limit by trying complex new techniques, the goal remains exactly the same. For me, success isn't just about the final product on the shelf—it's about enjoying every single moment spent at the painting desk with a brush in hand.
